National Champions to represent Canada in Microsoft Office Worldwide Competition
Emily Daubert is named the Canadian champion of Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Vancouver, BC – July 12, 2010
CCI Learning Solutions Inc. and Microsoft announced today that a student from Alberta has won the Canadian National Competition in both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, thus giving her the opportunity to compete in the Microsoft Office Worldwide Competition held in Park City, Utah from August 8th to 10th.
 
Emily Daubert from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta is the winner of the Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft Office Word Competitions. It is unusual for a student to win both the Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel competition. Emily was the highest scoring student in both of these categories, having competed against numerous other students across Canada. Emily achieved 100% in her exams in less than half the time allotted. In her Word exam, Emily completed with a perfect score in 11 minutes!
 
The Microsoft Office Worldwide Competition, which is an annual event, is open to full time students across Canada that are currently enrolled in an educational institution that offers the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Program: Microsoft’s official certification for Office Applications. In this particular event, students are required to successfully complete Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams. These tests are online and performance-based; the students complete a number of challenging tasks in either Word or Excel to demonstrate their exceptional competency in the world's foremost desktop computing applications.

Emily’s achievements in the Microsoft Office Worldwide Competition are also a success for SAIT. This institution is an Authorized Testing Centres for Microsoft Office Certifications and has shown great commitment to ensuring that their students will come away with an internationally recognized qualification that will facilitate success in today’s academic and professional markets.
 
At the Microsoft Office Worldwide Competition, national winners will compete to become the Microsoft Office Worldwide Champion for either Word or Excel by taking a Microsoft Office Specialist exam designed specifically for the competition finals. As part of the event, this year’s participants will experience various cultural and relationship building activities as well as attend an awards banquet celebrating the achievements of all contestants in the area of desktop proficiency.
